we’re so back
so it’s been quite some time since I last activated this site. much has changed in the past year! I suppose I never did a year in review, a month late isn’t too bad.
what immediately comes to mind, in review:
connected with Seattle’s sci-art community:
local artist group mathscaper, and althea rao with project “Commit to Memory, Know It Will Perish”
helped Iphis with more wood-kiln projects. very cool to be participating in such an ancient technique, making a really hot fire by hand
took up weaving and got back into my passion for fiber arts (punch needling, clothesmaking, etc) and joined the Seattle Weaver’s Guild, attended ANWG’s conference with a scholarship for the beginner’s seminar
applied and was accepted to Imperial College of London’s Design Engineering PhD program
decided to decline for a number of reasons, mainly because funding was scarce and we simply lack the resources to pay for visas unfortunately
was a good adventure and satisfying to know I’m capable, but unfortunate
finally met my husband’s extended family and was happily accepted in my new role as “funcle”
picked up journaling through DIY-ing a traveler’s notebook - I have been enjoying designing my own planners, prompts, etc
contributed to the NSF’s “molecular programming flight plan” to help connect the researchers in this niche field to organize a cohesive plan foward
reunited with my cross-country best friends at Outside Lands fest in SF - saw some of my favorite artists and favorite people
we moved to a far more affordable apartment and downsizing our things has been a great process in addressing my attachment to sentimental objects
started reading a LOT more since I am on the bus for around 2.5 hrs every day! I got a kobo clara and have read since November 2025:
the Southern Reach series by Jeff VanderMeer, The Expanse series by James S. A. Corey, Paradise Rot by Jenny Hval, 2/3 of the Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson, Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky, There is No Antimemetics Division by qntm, Xenogenesis trilogy by Octavia E. Butler
Iphis did his residency at the Mendocino Arts Center!!
